Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya Sangh
Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya Sangh, Uruli Kanchan was founded in 1950 by
Dr. Manibhai Desai, a devoted follower of Mahatma Gandhi. The Sangh was
established with the mission of implementing Gandhian principles of rural
development, self-reliance, and community welfare.
Dr. Manibhai Desai dedicated his life to the upliftment of rural communities
through education, healthcare, and sustainable development. His work earned
him the Padmashri award from the Government of India in recognition of his
exceptional contributions to society.
Dr. Manibhai Desai's Legacy
Dr. Manibhai Desai was born on 28th November 1920. He was deeply influenced
by Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and dedicated his entire life to the service
of rural India. After establishing the Sarvodaya Sangh, he worked tirelessly
to improve the living conditions of farmers and villagers.
His initiatives included promoting organic farming, establishing healthcare
facilities, creating educational institutions, and empowering women through
self-help groups. The Nature Cure Centre at Uruli Kanchan, established under
his guidance, continues to serve thousands of people each year.
Today, Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya Sangh operates multiple educational institutions,
healthcare facilities, and community development programs that carry forward
Dr. Manibhai Desai's vision of a self-reliant and harmonious society.
